    The ImageHostGrabber (IHG) Support Thread

Image Host Grabber (IHG) may no longer work with Firefox from 2016.

Some time either later on this year or (more probably) next year, IHG will stop working with Firefox. It's a done deal. Simply put, FF are "changing their model", that is, they are going to stop using the routines that allow addons like IHG work with FF. It's going to stop probably thousands of perfectly good addons from working.

Despite lots (and lots, and lots, and lots) of messages of concern from the addon developers (including us!) that's not going to change. IHG will stop working on FF.

We have very seriously discussed pulling the plug on IHG, taking the forum down and removing the hostf, making it impossible to update on-line. When FF make the change IHG would only work on the older potentially insecure versions of FF. This would leave IHG users vulnerable to whatever nasties going round at the time. We would rather IHG ceased to exist than allow that to happen.
It is recommended to switch to the Pale Moon browser, which looks very much like the traditional version of Firefox (and works excellently in my experience).

    https://www.palemoon.org/

If you have a 64-bit operating system, there is a 64-bit version of Pale Moon: https://www.palemoon.org/palemoon-win64.shtml

Once installed, when you run Pale Moon for the first time it prompts you to D/L the Migratory Tool which will import all your settings, passwords, bookmarks, etc from Firefox. With the recent divergence of Pale Moon from Firefox, this is no longer an option, however it does ask you if you wish to import any settings from Internet Exploder Explorer.

    [Edit]
The latest version of IHG may be found here at the new support forum:

As ever it is important that you install the latest version of IHG, and get it from the forum.

Older versions (including the one on the Mozilla Add-ons site) are OBSOLETE.

If you like your browsing experience ad-free then install Adblocker Latitude (which is a fork of Adblocker for Firefox).

    https://addons.palemoon.org/extensio...lock-latitude/

Most other Firefox add-ons work perfectly well with Pale Moon.

Are there any stand-alone apps that work on Mac OS ?

Sitesucker does not do the trick with very many hosts.

    Thanks 1

We can only hope they will develop a Mac version of Pale Moon!

It appears that the latest Firefox update has disabled IHG, however there is a way around it:

    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb...nsigned-add-on

Proceed with caution on this, but in a nutshell what you have to do is:

    1) In a new Firefox tab, type 'about:config' (without the quotes) into the address bar (you may get a warning).
    2) In the search box on the about:config page type (or Copy and Paste): xpinstall.signatures.required
    3) Once found, double click on xpinstall.signatures.required to set the boolean value to false
    4) Close about:config
    5) Re-start Firefox.

Awesome thread Andi. I am sure that many members and non-members will be happy with your work!

For me personally, Firefox has been unable to update for quite some time, so I have no issues with disabling IHG. Probably because I'm still using an old OS, which is the same reason I can't use the Ripper.

    Thanks for your insight!

That's why I mostly use Pale Moon with IHG now.

Firefox didn't just disable IHG. They disabled a few other add-ons also.

Besides IHG working on Palemoon another good thing about it is you don't have to update Adobe Flash every few days.

In hindsight that's what I meant.

Hi , strangely enough imagebam still works with mozilla
You are right it works well with palemoon browser even though imagehostgrabber changes the name of the pics, but viperripper doesn't

Yeah the way IHG reads some hosts leaves a little to be desired.

Re: ImageHostGrabber may no longer be supported by Firefox from 2016

in my experience, IHG always grabs imagebam files with the original file-names used for the upload. obviously if the files were second-hand from a crap host with befuddled names before posting, IHG won't be able to sort that issue. in that case I usually check if the files are approximately correct chronologically, then use the IHG prefix option to keep in the order posted, and correct the image-names using Irfanview. I add a tag to the directory name to make sure I remember that a correction was made.

I wrote a tutorial on that for those interested: https://vipergirls.to/threads/813510-...ge-downloaders.

Most image viewing applications have a batch rename facility.
